Meet Patrick
Financial advice should leave you feeling clearer, not more confused.
I'm Patrick Salmon, Director of Patrick Wayne Wealth Management. I've worked in financial services since 2007, beginning in mortgage advice before moving into wider financial planning. Today, I provide independent financial advice across pensions, investments, mortgages and protection, with the wider financial plan at the centre.
My background
Advice built around real decisions people have to make.
My career started in mortgage advice, which gave me an early understanding of how closely financial decisions connect to everyday life.
Experience across different stages of financial life
Over time, my work expanded beyond mortgages into pensions, investments and protection, allowing me to advise clients across a much wider range of financial decisions. My approach is to consider suitable options independently and in the context of the client's wider financial plan.
Looking beyond the individual product
I prefer to understand the bigger picture first — what you want to achieve, what you already have and which decisions actually need to be made — before moving into specific recommendations.
Planning changes as life changes
For clients who choose ongoing advice, reviews provide an opportunity to revisit the plan as circumstances, priorities, markets and legislation evolve.
How I work
Clear explanations, practical recommendations and no expectation that you should already know the answers.
Start with your situation
I want to understand what you are trying to achieve, what concerns you and what has prompted you to seek advice now.
Make the options understandable
Advice is more useful when you understand the reasoning behind it. I aim to explain the important points in plain language.
Focus on what actually needs doing
The objective is not to create activity for the sake of it. Recommendations should have a clear purpose within the wider plan.
Keep the plan relevant
Where ongoing advice is agreed, reviews help make sure the plan continues to reflect your circumstances and future goals.
What the relationship should feel like
Professional advice without making the process feel unnecessarily complicated.
You should be able to ask questions, understand why something is being recommended and know what happens next.
Clear explanations
Technical subjects are part of financial advice, but jargon should not become a barrier to understanding your own plan.
A joined-up view
Pensions, investments, mortgages and protection can affect one another, so decisions are considered in context where appropriate.
Hands-on support
Where we agree to progress a recommendation, I remain involved through the practical application and implementation process.
An ongoing relationship
For clients who choose ongoing service, the conversation continues after the initial recommendation rather than ending when a product is arranged.
Cash-flow planning
Sometimes the most useful question is not “what product do I need?” but “what happens if I do this?”
Cash-flow planning can form part of ongoing reviews to help turn assets, income, spending and future goals into a clearer picture of how a financial plan may develop over time.
It does not predict the future with certainty. Its value is in helping you explore different scenarios and understand the trade-offs behind important decisions.
- Explore retirement timing and future income needs.
- Test the impact of major spending or gifting decisions.
- Understand whether current saving and investment plans appear aligned with the goal.
- Revisit assumptions as circumstances change.
Who I work with
People usually come to me because there is a decision they want to make with more confidence.
That can be one specific question or a wider need to bring several parts of their finances together.
Approaching retirement
Understanding pensions, retirement income and whether the current plan supports the lifestyle you want.
Building and protecting wealth
Making decisions around investments, savings, protection and the longer-term financial plan.
Buying or refinancing property
Working through mortgage decisions while keeping the wider financial commitments in view.
What happens when we speak?
The first conversation is about understanding whether I can genuinely help.
Tell me what is happening
Explain the decision, concern or objective that has brought you here. You do not need to know which product or solution you need.
We identify what needs looking at
I will ask questions about your circumstances and explain what information would be needed to assess the position properly.
I explain the advice process
If there is work for me to do, we can discuss the scope of the advice, the next steps and the relevant charges before proceeding.
You decide whether to continue
The purpose of the first conversation is to establish whether working together makes sense before moving into the formal advice process.
Speak to Patrick
Start with the decision you are trying to make.
You do not need to prepare a perfect financial summary before getting in touch. Tell me what you are trying to achieve and we can work out what needs to happen next.
